37 weeks pregnant: Fully cooked, almost ready to pop

 Bump watch: week 37

The photo above is actually from the second round of pictures I took this afternoon and I still cringe at it! Yuck! I love having the bump photos from this pregnancy though (why didn't I do this last time?!) so I am determined to keep it up even if I detest what I see!

It's been a bit of a challenging week the last one. There's been plenty of horrible pregnancy symptoms: dizziness, aches and pains, night sweats and yet more pregnancy insomnia (a post on that subject will be coming soon). Thankfully though, I've managed to sleep a little better in the last two nights and I was even able to get to sleep around midnight last night which is the earliest I've been able to in quite a while.

Some days are better than others. Today I just can't get comfortable but the outside of my body feels less achy. Yesterday it was a lot harder to move but I didn't feel like my lungs were being squashed, so you have to take the good with the bad.

The hormones are up and down too and are a daily reminder of what may well be to come hormonally once the baby gets here. Scary!

I am still generally more excited than scared though. I have a few more things to get sorted before the little fella comes along, but the pram is now up and ready (it's had a few test drives around the living room) and I have ordered a small wall heater for the over-night nappy changes so that the poor baby doesn't freeze and scream the house down!

I am also starting to talk to Milo more about the baby and emphasising that he will be joining us soon-ish.  At age 3, Milo of course can't really conceive of how long 3 weeks is, or possibly 5 as it could end up, but being that the baby could really come at any time, I figure it best to talk to him about it just in case. When I bring the subject up he looks suitably excited but, in reality, he makes that same facial expression when I tell him he's getting an ice cream so who knows if he really gets it. We did have a discussion about the baby over dinner yesterday but Milo's main concern on the subject was that the baby ''can only read books that make noise'' and that Milo ''can read big books'' because he is ''a big boy''. Fair enough!

I've had a few sharp pains here and there, a bit of period pain and at one point I had a rather harsh pain that started far on my right-hand-side and then spread across to the left. These pains have all been singular as they happened though so I can't really count them in my head as practise contractions. They have induced the odd nervous flutter in my belly though for what is to come when labour finally does arrive. Bring it on!

3 - 5 weeks to go!

    1. Ah thank you very much :) I will definitely be writing about my birth experience when I get the chance. It will be very interesting to compare to last time. Quite weird to think that I could give birth next week! Still don't think I grow punctual or early children though ha ha.
