40 weeks pregnant: Still with bump

 Bump watch: week 40

I'm sorry if this post disappoints anyone who may have noticed a lack of post yesterday and was hopeful it might have meant I'd given birth. As you can see from today's photo, that is not the case. Today was my estimated due date but the baby bump is very much still here.

In total opposite to last week's bump watch post, today I am feeling far from chipper, in fact I have been feeling incredibly grumpy the entire day. Both the pregnancy insomnia and nausea are back on full blast and meant that I got just two hours sleep last night which hasn't exactly done me much good. The nausea is horrible and it's been around for most of the last two days. I didn't have any nausea in the late stages last time so it's been quite a surprise this time around and not a pleasant one. From a quick search on the internet it seems that I am one of many pregnant women who experience 3rd trimester nausea and I've been reading up on it quite a bit. From what I've read it appears to be down to the changing hormones in the end stages before labour starts and so I need to at least be grateful that it's representing my body getting itself ready to get this baby out some time soon. That's one thing at least.

There have been some evening Braxton Hicks contractions but they never last very long and each time I figure I'll go to bed and I will soon know if they are going to become anything serious. As yet they of course haven't. So now it's just waiting. My mum and aunt are here until Sunday so the plan is that my mum will come with me to the hospital if the baby makes his appearance during their stay in Berlin. I am hopeful that the baby will come some time this week but how long before they are due to leave, I don't know.

Will have to wait and see...

    1. I figured I probably would knowing from friend's experiences that it's rubbish that the second child often comes early. I figure if you can try and prepare yourself for the baby coming late, if it does then come a bit early then that's a bonus. I would have been very surprised if this baby had come early but I'm hoping I don't make it to 41 weeks pregnant ;)
I hope your last 10 weeks fly by for you! x

    1. Thank you, I hope you're doing ok! If you get to 42 weeks then they'll induce you and if you really aren't coping after 10 days then they'll induce then but I reckon I'd wait. I'd rather start labour at home surrounded by my own comforts than in a hospital but we'll wait and see if I'd still feel that way if it came to 10 days overdue ;) x
