THE recipe to kick start labour?

For those of you who read yesterday's pregnancy update, you'll know that as of today, I am now 1 day overdue. No signs of anything as yet and my walking up and down the stairs in my building haven't seemed to have done the trick so I have been looking up funny old housewives tales about what can naturally bring on labour. There's the ones that most of us pregnant women have heard of already:
  • walking
  • going up and down stairs
  • sex
  • star jumps only joking
but I've also come across a restaurant called 'Scalini's' in Georgia, USA that claims to serve a meal with amazing labour-inducing qualities. They even have a wall in the restaurant (see photo above) dedicated to the photos of babies who were born not long after their mums-to-be were eating said meal.

The recipe is for eggplant parmigiana and if like me, you are at the end of your pregnancy and fancy giving labour a bit of a kick start, why not give the recipe a try and let me know how you get on! Let me know if it helps!!! You can find the full recipe here

    1. It sounds pretty tasty so I certainly wouldn't complain about trying it. I have a tea I am going to try tomorrow and if there's no sign come the start of the weekend I'll give it a go. If it doesn't bring out the baby I reckon it'll at least satisfy my taste buds!

  2. So are you going to try it? If so, let us know what happens ;-)

I've heard fresh pineapple helps - but only if you eat about 7 of them!! I don't think my tongue would be impressed with that...

    1. I may well do if there's no sign of this baby coming by Saturday. I have another appointment at the Dr's tomorrow to check things again so will see what they say. I've heard that about pineapple's too but not sure I could manage quite that many ;)

  3. Whats about Himbeerblätter-Tea or Eisenkraut-Tea or oil.

In case of my daughters labour (second child, 41weeks pregnant) the kickstarter has been Eisenkraut-oil on my bump.Oh boy...

    (sorry for my miserable englisch!)

    Much strenght and luck

    1. Hi Lilli, no problem with the English at all :) I've been drinking Himbeerblätter-Tee for the last few weeks and was recommended Eisenkraut-tee today so will make that tomorrow or will look for the oil. Worth a try! Thanks for the recommendations.

  4. I really thought you would be done by now! Guess he is still hanging there strong hehehe
About tips on inducing labour I've heard about spicy food, even on my pre-labour classes the nurse spoke about that. Indian food, I would say extra-hot should do the trick :)
In my case I didnt need it.
Anyways, hope all goes really well!!!

    1. I was hoping I would be too but I was pretty sure he'd be late. I just hope he won't be much later. A good hot curry would be lovely. Indian food German style is pretty rubbish but I may well have a Thai red curry tomorrow evening if this baby isn't on his way out by then :)

  5. I know you don't have a bathtub but maybe a nearby friend could give you access to one?
(You'd be v welcome to use ours should you fancy a shlepp across town)
Warm baths + a small glass of red wine was what I was looking forward to in case my munchkin decided to stay in there longer than I liked. He apparently didn't like the idea of red wine tho and popped out before I could try it.

    Good luck !!!

    1. If I go as far as next week then may well have to find a bathtub somewhere! Maybe just planning it will make the baby pop out? ;)

  6. That is also my OB suggest in my past pregnancy. Especially walking everyday
    before the labour coming.
