Alfie at 1 month old

This post is a few days overdue (much like Alfie was!), three days overdue in fact, but I just haven't had the chance to write it until now. I can't believe it but Alfie turned one month on the 1st March! One month already! I thought time goes quickly when you have one child but it goes even faster with two!

Alfie's first four weeks have flown by and what a four weeks they've been. He has fitted so well in to our little family and he is adored by his brother and I. It took him a couple of weeks to get the hang of breastfeeding but we got there in the end and he is now starting to plump up and have proper little chubby cheeks that are so adorable I can't stop kissing them! Bedtime has gone from 11pm down to 9.30pm so far and he is starting to sleep the first couple of hours in his own cot until his first nightly feed when he then co-sleeps with me. For the first few weeks he fed only once every 4 hours in the night which was pure heaven and we're now up to mostly every 3 hours which is ok.

We were blessed with his first real smile at 3 weeks and whilst I know it will often be put down to 'gas', I am in no doubt that his smiles are real. He often smiles when his brother is making silly noises at him and he graces me with a grin or two when laying on my lap as I talk to him.

Those little baby acne spots have now appeared and he looks a little like he is in a very early pre-teen stage. They will soon disappear like Milo's did and his face will be fresh once more.

He only has very minor reflux which I am very grateful of after what Milo went through! Although we often go through a couple of outfits a day because of it (for both of us).

At the moment the obvious developments are few but he is now very aware and curious when awake and loves to follow sounds that are nearby. When his brother is in the close vicinity, he will watch him with intense interest and I can see such a bond between the two of them already.

He's sleeping much less now than in the early days and won't stay asleep quite so easily when put down as he had before.

I can't wait to what changes come in his second month of life outside the womb and get to know my little chap even more.
