Pregnancy and beyond

My 12 week scan with Alfie

Back in July of last year I announced that my little family of 2 would be growing to become a family of 3. It was an exciting admission to make and I was thrilled to be able to let my readers know about the little baby that was growing in my belly.

This blog really helped me through those months of pregnancy. It gave me distraction through the horrible morning sickness and let me share my favourite maternity finds (why is Summer maternity wear so much better than Winter?!). I used the opportunity to write about stress in pregnancy (of which I had my fare share at times) and I shared my love of Bowtech therapy in helping with the common aches and pains that come with a growing belly.

I really enjoyed writing about the funny signs that show you are pregnant (beyond the expansive stomach) and I wrote a post sharing Milo's thoughts on what having a baby means.

My most popular post during pregnancy was definitely the one in which I asked 'How realistic should birth preparation classes really be?' and I loved reading your many comments on the matter.

These are just a handful of the many posts I wrote during my pregnancy with Alfie and I am so glad that I have a record of that time. The almost weekly photos I took of my growing belly will be treasured for years to come and I have my blog to thank for encouraging me to keep up with them, even on those days when I really didn't fancy having a camera pointed at me. I really wish I was already blogging back when I was pregnant with Milo as it would be lovely to have such detailed accounts of that pregnancy too.

I really enjoyed blogging during pregnancy and to put the cherry on top, It seems that others enjoyed my pregnancy posts too as I am a finalist in this years 'Mad Blog Awards'. In September I will be flying over to the UK with the boys and I will be attending the awards ceremony in London which I can't wait for! It'll likely be my first night out after having Alfie and it will be a great excuse to dress up and have some 'me time'. I will also be meeting my fellow finalists, many of whom I have chatted to via Twitter or Facebook and I can't wait to meet them in person finally! I celebrated becoming a finalist with a blog re-design as you will have spotted today!

Little Alfie, just a couple of hours old

Voting is now open for the awards. There are a number of categories and you can vote in as few or as many as you'd like. I think my chances of winning are little but I am still going to give it a good push as you never know! If you enjoyed reading my pregnancy posts (or just love my blog of course!) I would really appreciate it if you would vote for 'Working Berlin Mum' in the 'Best Pregnancy Blog' category. Voting is possible here. If you have the chance I'd REALLY appreciate it.
