I've not
managed many posts this week but there was good reason for it I promise.
On Tuesday my mum, dad and aunt arrived to not only wish Milo a happy 4th birthday but also to meet little Alfie for the very first time.
This
afternoon they bid their farewells and I am currently taking advantage
of having two sleeping boys to post a little about how we got on.
Having
visitors as well as a little baby can be a bit exhausting to say the
least but it was lovely to see them interact with Alfie and to see his
smiles in return and Milo was able to get the extra attention he
sometimes misses out on at the moment which was good for him.
Milo of course loved showing off ''his baby'' to his grandparents and auntie. He's so proud of his little brother and they got used to handling the many occasions that Milo wants to cuddle, look at and kiss Alfie which can get a little boisterous at times.
My mum absolutely adores babies and so having a third grandchild (all boys) to cuddle was heavenly for her. I picked them up from the airport so that she could get some cuddles in before we collected Milo from nursery and above is the photo of the very first cuddle they shared. There will undoubtedly be many more to come!
We have a tradition in which Milo and I (now with the addition of Alfie) eat breakfast at the apartment nanny, grandad and auntie stay in and I had the idea to do an early Easter Egg hunt so that my family could join in with the experience. The last time Milo did one, he ended up eating all the little eggs as he went along and would lose interest quickly so I decided to buy a pack of colourful plastic eggs that he would have to find around the apartment and he would receive a chocolate surprise once he'd collected them all. To our delight the idea went down really well and once he got the hang of finding the eggs (sometimes with a little assistance), he loved the game and quickly found all 12. He then took them to Nanny who gave him his treat of a chocolate bunny. Yum yum!
It's been really lovely having family here and I know both the boys enjoyed it too. In April we'll be flying over to the UK all 3 of us for the first time and I know Milo can't wait!

I know how it is having family far away! It's hard work as well as good fun having them to visit and so good for the children. My wee man loves the extra attention to say the least
ReplyDeleteYes it can be rather full on and tiring but like you say, it's great for the kids. Milo adored having his grandad to be silly with and my mum to read to him.
DeleteHow nice that your mum got to meet Alfie :-)
ReplyDeleteShe loved it. She adores babies generally but of course her own grandson's even more ;)
