Cherishing the Moments
Now that Alfie and I are back home, my little family is complete once more and boy am I glad about that. It is unfortunately only temporary, as Milo will be off on holiday with his dad for a week as of Saturday, so I'm making the most of having him back with me.
I've started work on doing up his and Alfie's bedroom now that the boys are officially sharing and so the kids and I headed to Ikea this afternoon after picking Milo up early, to find a new lampshade and a few pictures for the walls. I plan on covering the lampshade with a nice fabric and Milo has decided he wants a green one as it is all of a sudden his favourite colour. I've promised I will research green fabrics this evening and show him ones to choose from tomorrow. I've reorganised the furniture a bit which has already made quite a nice change and I want to get some of my photos of the kids and of our family printed and framed for the walls. I really want to get two massive canvases done with portraits I've taken of the boys, but it's so expensive at the size I want, so that will have to wait for now. Once the room is finished I will make sure to take some photos and show you what I've achieved.
In the meantime, we'll be just hanging out. Milo has picked up some funny habits whilst I was away. He is currently obsessed with the word 'cool', which he says in an odd-sounding German accent. This morning he was walking around the apartment half starkers, wearing sun glasses and a pirate hat and talking about how cool he looked. He looked so cool in fact that I had to go look at him whilst he watched himself in the mirror dancing in aforementioned attire. This was all when he was supposed to be getting dressed of course!
We've also had some very funny discussions. A lot of them seem to revolve around language. He's got a new favourite TV show at the moment, which is Mike the Knight. He's watched it mainly in German, but I bought an English DVD of the show whilst there last week and so we watched that today. After watching an episode he asked me why Mike the Knight was speaking English. I told him that Mike's bilingual like him and so he can speak English and German. He was rather impressed with this news. I don't know what he'll think if he ever sees the show dubbed in to another language?!
He's also still totally obsessed with his brother. I think he must have missed him alot as his nursery told me that he's been playing with a soft toy, which he considers a baby. He has been feeding it and looking after it and they even got the doll's bed out so that Milo could have it sleep in a cot next to him whilst he takes his afternoon nap. I was so glad they told me about it. It's so adorable and also fascinating how he appears to have made himself a substitute Alfie whilst his little brother was away. When we picked him up from nursery, the first day we were back, Milo smothered his brother with kisses and cuddles and thinks everyone should be just as in to him as he is. In fact, they do seem to be at times. Poor Alfie gets totally invaded when we pick up Milo each day. He has a number of fans in that place!
Two more sleeps until I say goodbye to my big boy again. I'm not looking forward to it!
